SCREENING 31ST MAY 2008, 5pm
Esky features a curated video program, so you can sit back (on an esky) and gaze your eyes upon some visual delights as you enjoy your coldie!
Here's a little blah on a few of the flicks:

Artex and the Swamp of Sorrow (Neverending Sadness) references the pivotal
scene in 1984 fantasy smash The Neverending Story, whereby magical horse
companion Artex sacrifices himself to the swamps of sorrow - a psychologically
motivted marsh with the powers to sink the happiest of creatures into the deepest
despair. This film captures the artists' interpretations of the horses final moments
and inner dialogue - the lowlights of his lifetime flashing before our eyes.
Made by Anna John and Emma Ramsay, two Sydney COFA graduates with a
penchant for nostalgia, mod cons, lo-fi and the darkest humour.
Directed and Produced by Anna Helme and Robbie MacEwan
Sound by DJ Rainbow Ejaculation - "Carpet Cleaning Professionals".
A 10-second video produced for a project run by the Tape Projects artist run initiative.
Videos by various video artists are printed out as flipbooks to go with a 12" record of
locked grooves created by various sound artists.
The video pokes fun at stereotypes
and images in some found gay porn magazines of the 80s, often somewhat lacking
in humour itself.

Family, memory and connection to place are explored in this evocative and mnemonic
film that combines stop motion animation and live action. A collection of stories about
growing up in 1970s / 1980s North Queensland, where the sweet stickiness of the
surroundings are rendered in icing, cake and knitting.

Story Catching is the animated tale of a girl who gets attacked by a large pair of scissors.
Using cut out paper characters and an overhead projector, a simple technique illustrates
our shared discoveries.
